David West


David has served as the Administrator for St. Luke Lutheran Home since January 2016. He has been active in the long-term healthcare field since 1977.

Born in Seneca, Illinois, Dave received his Long Term Care Administration degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He is an Iowa- and Wisconsin-licensed nursing home administrator and, since 1987, has served at facilities in Marinette, Prairie Farm, Wisconsin Rapids and Chetek, Wisconsin.

Between them, Dave and his wife, Pam, have 10 children and 10 grandchildren. During his spare time, Dave has served as a Scoutmaster, Lions Club member and officeholder, church trustee and Sunday school teacher. He also volunteered with the Chetek Fire Department and worked as an EMT with the Chetek Ambulance Service.

Nancy Mills

Director of Health Services

Nancy has served as the Director of Health Services for St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since the summer of 2003.

Nancy is a Spencer native graduating from Spencer High Scool. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) located in Emmetsburg, Iowa in 1986. Nancy continued her education and training from Rochester University located in Rochester, Minnesota where she was exposed to clinical experiences at St. Mary's and Methodist Hospitals.

Greg Meeter

Accounting Controller

Greg has served as the St. Luke Campus Chief Financial Officer/Controller since 1989.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Dordt College located in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Prior to joining the St. Luke family, Greg served as a Certified Public Accountant for Winther, Stave & Co. LLP, in Spencer, Iowa.

Joni Stein

Assistant Director of Nursing & Medicare Coordinator

Prior to being named the Assistant Director of Nursing for the St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. campus, Joni served as the MDS and Medicare Coordinator.

She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Iowa Lakes Community College.

Joni has 22 years of experience in Long Term Care including the following positions: CNA, LPN, staff nurse, RN and MDS/Medicare Coordinator.

Tricia Steward

Unit Manager/MDS Coordinator

Tricia’s passion in life is helping others. At a young age, she began working in the healthcare field. Her mother, a nurse, and all the devoted professionals Tricia has worked with over the years inspired her to continue her career as a nurse.

Prior to joining the St. Luke family as a Licensed Practical Nurse in October 2014, Tricia worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in both the nursing home and hospital settings, served with various ambulance services and operated a dog grooming business.

In 2017, she earned her Registered Nurse degree from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. Today, in her role as Unit Manager/MDS Coordinator, Tricia enjoys working with residents, their families and fellow St. Luke staff members. She strives to ensure that residents and their families receive the care and compassion they deserve.

Outside of work, Tricia enjoys spending time with her husband, Todd, their four children: Tova, Kevin, Chance and Casey, and their four grandchildren: Braylon, Kasen, Bentley and Audrey. She also enjoys tending to their furry friend, Theodore, as well as traveling, fishing and baking.

Mary Hughes

Director of Dietary Services

Mary joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in April 1992. She served as a dietary aide at St. Luke Lutheran Home during high school, as well as a cook and assistant dietary director, before becoming St. Luke Homes & Services’ director of dietary services in April 2018.

The Spencer High School graduate is attending the University of North Dakota to earn her Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional credentials.

In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their two children: Gage and Grace.

Amanda Klein

St. Luke Homes & Services Activities Director

Amanda has been working in the Activities Department with St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home since the fall of 2010.

She grew up in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from Spencer High School in 2005, Amanda went onto Iowa Lakes Community College and received an Associate of Arts degree. Amanda then transferred to Buena Vista University located in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she received a Business Management degree in 2009. In May 2010, Amanda took the Activities Coordinator course through Iowa Lakes Community College.

Amanda enjoys planning activities for the residents of St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home, as well as the tenants of Hillside Terrace and Riverview Terrace. Seeing residents and tenants involved and having fun brings joy to Amanda's life.

In her spare time, Amanda likes scrapbooking, traveling, bike riding, exercising, and spending time with her husband.

Elizabeth Essick


Liz joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. as a laundry aide in January 2008, and transitioned to serving as the receptionist for St. Luke Lutheran Home in July 2012.

She is responsible for directing visitors, families and residents to either staff members or residents in the building. Liz’s duties include receiving all incoming telephone calls, entering data information on new residents and changing data that may arise, and performing any clerical tasks assigned.

Liz enjoys working in the healthcare setting and finds her job at St. Luke Lutheran Home rewarding. She greatly enjoys the staff and visiting with residents and their families.

Katie Chindlund

Social Worker

Katie has served as the Social Worker for St. Luke Lutheran Home since October 2018.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Buena Vista University.

Katie grew up outside of Webb. She now lives in Rembrandt with her family. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two boys: Lukas and Jayce.

Katie is a strong advocate for residents and works hard to make sure their needs are being met. Her goal is to help residents enjoy their stay at St. Luke Homes & Services.

Kris Todd

Marketing/PR Director

Kris has served as the Marketing & Public Relations Director for St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since January 2012. In this role, her responsibilities include providing public relations and marketing initiatives for St. Luke Lutheran Home, Riverview Terrace Assisted Living, Hillside Terrace Assisted Living and The Highlands.

Prior to joining the St. Luke Homes & Services staff, Kris served as a newspaper reporter and photographer, a director of marketing and public relations, and as a radio news anchor and assistant farm director.

Kris serves on the board of directors for the Clay County Community Foundation and Spencer Renaissance Initiative Committee.

Pastor John Syvertson


Pastor John Syvertson attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul and earned a Master of Arts in Gerontology in 2001 and a Master of Divinity degree in 2003. He has served congregations in Kenmare, Bowbells, Jamestown, Milton and Osnabrock, N.D., and Colton, S.D. His duties as a full-time chaplain for the St. Luke Homes and Services campus started in April 2013.

Throughout his life and ministry, both as an ordained minister and also in his secular life as a social worker, Pastor Syvertson has worked with older individuals. As a social worker, he was employed as a nursing home social worker and in home- and community-based services at the county and state levels in North Dakota and Minnesota.

Pastor Syvertson, who has a passion for working with the elderly, finds the work very satisfying. His duties include conducting all worship services for the nursing home and two assisted living complexes, as well as leading all Bible classes. He conducts memorial services and does bereavement counseling with the families of our residents. Chaplain Syvertson keeps busy working with the residents and staff at The Highlands, Hillside Terrace Assisted Living, Riverview Terrace Assisted Living and St. Luke Lutheran Home.

Beth Holland

Unit Manager/MDS Coordinator

Beth found her true calling in 1996, when she became a Registered Nurse. She previously was a member of the St. Luke family, from 1999 through 2002, when she worked as a Charge Nurse. Residents were her primary focus then and desiring the best outcomes for them has not changed for Beth. Today, in her role as Unit Manager/MDS Coordinator, she strives to meet the needs and desires of her residents and wants families to feel comfortable visiting with her about their loved ones.

Prior to rejoining the St. Luke family in March 2016, Beth was a Registered Nurse at the hospital in Estherville, Iowa, for five years and also had experience in Director of Nursing and prior MDS coordinator roles.

Outside of work, Beth enjoys spending time with her husband, Joel, their four children: Michael, Amanda, Scott and Kyle, and their grandson, Hayden. She also enjoys tending to her “other kids” - Siamese cats Hera and Zeus, Weimaraner dog Jewel, and Shih Tzu puppy Daphne in their home near Terril.
